Biography
I am an independent researcher and curator based in Denmark. In my work I explore relational arrangements of humans and nonhumans and their biopolitical creations through posthuman curating and curating in/as common/s, future thinking, affective data and data fictions. My PhD research (Aarhus University, 2016) titled "Curating in/as Common/s: Posthuman Curating and Computational Cultures", investigates how curatorial practice is influenced by contemporary cultures of mass participation in socio-technological networks. It examines how users (including curators), machines and software stimulate new forms of curating, how curating becomes part of computational cultures and how computation can be influenced by curating. I am currently Associate Professor at Aarhus University in the Dept. of Digital Design and Information Studies.
My recent curatorial projects include exhibition ScreenShots: Desire and Automated Image (2019) and I am currently developing a durational curatorial and research project investigating contemporary data practices, entitled Fermenting DATA. I work often in collaborations with artists and programmers engaging in problematics of audience/users participation facilitated by technologies.
I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of the Networked Image at London South Bank University (2017) and AHRC Cultural Engagement Research Fellow at the School of Media, Film and Music, University of Sussex (2016). My research there was part of Remote Intimacy project with Fabrica, a Contemporary Art Gallery in Brighton. This was a practice-led investigation into how digital and networked technologies change our experience of intimacy and my research was entitled Ecologies of Intimacy. I was also Principal Investigator on the project Future Thinking for Social Living at Falmouth University, with focus on how future thinking can be productively used in increasing social participation in care homes. I led University of the Village 2, a research project with educational aspect, which investigated universities’ potential to support development of online knowledge networks in rural areas. I was also part of the team of researchers on AHRC funded pilot project University of the Village and AHRC funded network Rural Connective.
